NJ EMT’s must successfully complete both a 24-hour EMT Refresher program broken into three 8-hour blocks (A, B, and C) and 24 elective CEU credits as well as maintain current BLS CPR certification. Moreover, the Refresher Courses receive NJ OEMS approval for the renewal of NJ Emergency Medical Technicians. You can schedule NJ EMT Refresher courses at our training center of on-site at your organization in increments of 6 participants. The goal of this course is to review common skills employed by EMTs while responding to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or bandaging a wound. Additionally, participants will employ patient assessment skills to determine the best course of treatment. So that participants may continue to provide appropriate first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients.

Intended Audience: NJ EMT’s looking to recertify their credential and expired EMT’s looking to obtain the NREMT skills competency to challenge the exam.

Prerequisites: Current BLS/CPR card

NJ Refresher A Course

Topics include airway management, assisted and artificial ventilation, CPAP protocols, oxygen administration, patient assisted and administered medications, respiratory distress protocols, and respiratory emergencies.

NJ Refresher B Course

Topics include cardiac, endocrine, GI/GU immunologic, neurologic, OB/GYN, and respiratory, emergencies. Additionally, we review patient assisted and administered medications and BLS CPR skills.

NJ Refresher C Course

Topics include abdominal, chest, head and neck, orthopedic, soft tissue injuries and bleeding control. We review and assess your bleeding control and bandaging as well as splinting skills.

All participants who successfully complete a refresher course receive a certificate and course completion verification through the online education platform provided by the NJ Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS). Furthermore, those wishing to sit for the NREMT exam will also receive the NREMT Psychomotor Examination Verification form.
